The Netherlands
Statkraft first established a presence in the Netherlands in 1998, when it opened a trading office in Amsterdam to access the deregulated Dutch power market: The first deregulated power market on the European continent.
Today, Statkraft operates a country office in Amsterdam that focuses on energy market operations, including trading and supply of power, PPAs and flexible energy solutions to companies and industry. It also manages emissions rights and renewable energy certificates internationally.
In 2025, Statkraft agreed to sell its renewable energy development activities in the Netherlands, including operational solar assets and a portfolio of solar, wind and battery projects, to Dutch company Greenchoice.
